A two-month investigation by the Regina Police Service (RPS) has led to the arrest of a suspect in several property related crimes. The arrest on Jan. 23 marked the end of a string of break-ins and thefts that covered northwest Regina. The first incident occurred on Dec. 23, 2024. A business on the 100 block of Husum Road was broken into and various tools, including a diesel heater were stolen. On Dec. 25 and 26, the same business on the 100 block of Leonard Street was broken into. During the first break-in, the fence to the compound was cut – while the second break-in saw the lock on the business’s gate removed. Diesel fuel was stolen in both cases. On Dec. 25, diesel fuel was also stolen from a business on the 200 block of Hodsman Road. Sometime between Dec. 25 and Dec. 26, a 2004 Ford F550 was stolen from the 600 block of Solomon Crescent. It was later recovered within city limits. The suspect was also linked to an incident on July 5, 2024 – where a business on the 4800 block of Victoria Avenue East was broken into and two utility trucks were stolen. One of the utility trailers was later recovered near Fort Qu’Appelle. A 33-year-old suspect was arrested after search warrants were executed at a home, detached garage and vehicles. The accused faces 26 separate charges. They include break and enter (five counts), possession of stolen property under and over $5,000 (four counts), breach of prohibition order for prohibited firearms (three counts), possession of identity documents (six counts) and failing to comply with conditions of a release order (three counts). The accused made his first appearance on his charges in Regina provincial court on Jan. 24.
